Mahe Shipping was one amongst the top three courier companies to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Seychelles Revenue Commission on Friday 2nd February 2024, with the aim to enhance collaboration and cooperation in relation to the operation of courier services. The newly elected Social Committee of Mahe Shipping has hit the ground running, hosting its inaugural activity for the year 2024 with a sizzling fundraiser and social gathering that brought together the hearts and appetites of its cherished staff. On Friday, 26th January 2024, the company grounds transformed into a bustling hub of camaraderie and culinary delight.
With the irresistible aroma of grilled burgers wafting through the air, the event kicked off with a bang as the team rallied to support the noble cause. Priced at a friendly SR 40, the burgers were the talk of the event, complemented by the refreshing option of fresh juice at only SR 15. The appetite of the employees was not just for the delicious fare, but for the spirit of unity that the event fostered. The social scene buzzed with energy as the staff unwound from their usual routine, reinforcing their bonds over shared laughter and stories. The informal setting allowed for a relaxed interaction that served as a testament to the vibrant culture Mahe Shipping prides itself on. Highlighting the evening, Mickus, the charismatic chairman of the Social Committee, gathered the team for an impromptu meeting. His announcement bubbled with excitement as he declared the event a roaring success, filled with anticipation for future events on an even grander scale. His vision for the committee's role in enhancing the company's social fabric was met with enthusiastic nods and applause. Adding a touch of grace and recognition to the festivities, Managing Director, Ms. Angelic Appoo took the stage to honor the dedication and hard work of Ms. Urma Ambalavany by presenting her with the esteemed title of Employee of the Month for December 2023. The accolade served as a glowing reminder of the company's commitment to acknowledging the individual contributions that make the collective strong. Riding the wave of this successful launch, the Social Committee extended an open invitation to all Mahe Shipping staff for a reflective and serene mass on Saturday, 27th January at Bon Pasteur, Mont Fleuri at 4pm. The event aimed to serve as a thanksgiving for the blessings of the past year while inviting prosperity and goodwill for the year ahead. As the Mahe Shipping family gathered under the setting sun, the event was not just a celebration but a promise of unity and support among the staff. The Social Committee, through its inaugural fundraiser and the gathering that followed, has set the tone for a year of togetherness and success. With a shipshape start to 2024, the Mahe Shipping team sails forward, united by the bonds of friendship and the winds of collective ambition. Mahe Shipping has a wide range of shipping agency experience and expertise in various segments in the shipping industry. We provide services such as; port and husbandry services, looking after the requirements of the Master and their crew, ship clearance procedures with the port and
respective authorities, preparation and submission of appropriate documentation, along with releasing or receiving cargo. In addition, we go the extra mile by assisting with logistical arrangements such as crew change, transportation, accommodation and health care for the crew and passengers on board the vessels. We also offer de-grouping services and issue Container Release (Delivery Order), indicating vital container collection information. Furthermore, our dedicated team prepares vessel schedules which is then shared with the responsible parties and respective clients. We are proud shipping agent for Norwegian Cruise Line. A handover ceremony of donations to the Seychelles National Library, was held on Thursday 23rd November 2023. Mahe Shipping Company Ltd, was amongst one of the numerous generous donors, whereby fifty “Seychelles, Ships and the Sea” books were donated to the Seychelles National Library. The donation was presented by the company’s Managing Director, Ms. Appoo, who also received a shield as a special token of appreciation on behalf of the company.
The book is based on the maritime history of Seychelles and the Indian Ocean, with a specific chapter about the modern port and future of the shipping industry. Amongst the many novelists who contributed to the book, include two of the company’s very own board members; Mr. Adrian Skerrett and Mr. Gerry Adam. The 2023/2024 Cruise Ship Season is launched with the arrival of SH DIANA as the first cruise ship being handled by Mahe Shipping as the shipping agent. A short launching ceremony was held at the Mahe Quay, Port Victoria on Tuesday 24th October 2023 to welcome SH DIANA to Seychelles shores. To commemorate the “International Day of the Elderly” which was on 1st October, Mahe Shipping Company Ltd organized a cleanup of the Anse Boileau Elderly Home along with a donation of crutches, as part of its corporate social responsibility. This noble voluntary activity which took place on Saturday 14th October 2023, aimed towards making a meaningful difference to the ten elderly residents at the home, whilst creating a more friendly and conducive environment for them.
The activity comprised of decluttering the gutters, interior paint touchups, grass cutting and other landscaping duties around the compound. Employees of the company even contributed with some local fruits, vegetables and even a freshly baked homemade cake which was offered to the elderly residents at the home. The donation ceremony was attended by a few residents of the home, the District Administrator and Ms. Cadeau the Manager of the home. During the ceremony, twenty crutches were offered to the home and ten to the Anse Boileau community itself, through the District Administration Office. The company shall continue with similar activities throughout the upcoming months by donating some crutches to other homes around Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. We are grateful to all the Mahe Shipping employees who made a special effort to make this activity a success. Mahe Shipping Welcomes the Newly Appointed French Commissaire Principal (Lt Cdr) for Seychelles21/9/2023 Mahe Shipping Company Ltd held an introductory meeting on Tuesday 19th September 2023 with the newly appointed French Commissaire principal (Lt Cdr) for Seychelles, Timothée SEVAISTRE. The company has been working closely with his predecessor, ensuring that both logistical support and port operations related matters are planned and executed seamlessly, further ensuring a smooth and successful port visit of French flagged Navy Ships calling to Port Victoria, Seychelles.
The introductory meeting was taken as an opportunity to reaffirm the company’s dedication and commitment towards the support of EU led forces within the Seychelles region. (Lt Cdr) Timothée Sevaistre was presented with a token of appreciation, a book titled “Seychelles, Ships and the Sea” written by two of Mahe Shipping Company’s Directors, which was launched to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary. The brief meeting was attended by Mr. Lynze Marimba, the Head of Agency & Freight Forwarding and Mr. Ryan Talma, the Assistant Operations Manager. Mahe Shipping welcomed a courtesy call from our principal Global Defense Logistics (GDL) representative Mr. Manousos Bailakis who was in Seychelles from the 6th to 8th September.
GDL is an established Global Defence Logistic Support provider offering more than 30 years' experience in Navy Husbanding provision including in specialist areas such as Ship Supply, Maritime Security and Support Equipment. Mahe Shipping has been working with GDL since 2017 providing shipping agency services to the navy ships and ensuring that all logistical arrangements such as crew change, transportation, accommodation and health care for the crew on board the vessels are well taken care of. During his stay, Mr. Bailakis visited Mahe Shipping for a brief introduction and meeting to discuss our working relationship, get feedback on the services being provided and also discuss areas for expansion. The meeting was attended by the Managing Director, Ms. Appoo, the Head of Agency & Freight Forwarding, Mr. Lynze Marimba and the Assistant Operations Manager, Mr. Ryan Talma. The company was pleased to receive very good feedback on the services being provided by the Shipping Agency team and subsequent to the meeting, he proceeded to visit SPA port facilities, including IPHS Quay and some of our service providers. |
